Charitable Giving

Worlds End Music is not yet a registered charity, but charitable giving is at the heart of what we do. Musicians need to be paid for their concerts, and churches need to be recompensed for the use of their spaces. Beyond that, since we first stopped making a loss from Worlds End Music concerts, any profit has been donated to charity, usually, but not exclusively, a local one. Below is the list of charitable donations we have made together since this began. Your attendance at the concerts and purchase of tickets therefore makes the world a better place. (You will notice that quite often, musicians tend to donate their fee to the charity – not something I encourage, as they need to be paid for their hard work, hours of practice and preparation, but I have beautiful colleagues.) This list is not quite complete and will be updated as soon as possible.

April 2022 – Concert for Ukraine, £2,108 donated to the DEC Ukraine humanitarian crisis appeal.

(With special thanks to all musicians who donated their services for free – Karen Jones, Nina Kiva, Gillianne Haddow, Rachel Stott, Andrew Harper, Clare Duckworth, Ellie Fagg and a particular thank you to Sir Karl Jenkins, for allowing his music to be specially arranged for this concert – and paid the hire fee to his own publisher!)

March 2023 – Gary Ryan, guitar, £832.26 donated to Peanut Children’s Ward, East Grinstead Hospital.

(Once again, thanks Gary! One of Gary’s children was treated by Peanut Ward when young and Gary wanted to give back.)

May 2023 – Double Trouble Woodwind concert, £225.09 donated to Bromley Brighter Beginnings.

(With thanks to both Karen Jones and Ursula Leveaux)

December 2024 – Christmas Bells, £747 donated to Centrepoint/Shelter

(With thanks to Louis Barclay for donating his fee minus a round at the Five Bells!)

June 2024 – Save the Spire, £840.75 donated to the Spire Appeal, St Martin-of-Tours

With thanks to Gary Ryan, Gwellian Llyr, Malcolm Johnston, Scott Storey, Gillianne Haddow.

December 2024 – Classial Christmas, £410 donated to Welcare
March 2025 – Aliara Duo, £110 donated to Bromley Brighter Beginnings.
November 2025 – Bach and Beyond, December 2025 – Dickens, A Christmas Carol and The Snowman – to be donations will be to CASPA and the Maypole Project.

So far, that’s over £5,000 donated to various causes. And this is just the by-product of lovely concerts!
